Hey there — I'm Chelom.

Professor. Researcher. Writer.

Educator on intimacy, emotion, and connection.

With a background in law, family relationships, and human development, I study how mindfulness, desire, and emotional safety shape our most meaningful relationships. I teach what I learn — through courses, articles, public speaking, and global research.

I currently teach at Brigham Young University, where I focus on healthy sexuality in committed relationships and how mindfulness in sexual experiences can reduce shame, increase connection, and support emotional and physical well-being.

Real intimacy starts with feeling safe — emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

What I Do

I educate individuals, couples, and professionals on

how to:

  • Communicate clearly without shutdowns

  • Explore desire without shame

  • Build emotional and physical intimacy that lasts (and actually feels good)

Who My Work Supports:

Couples in long-term relationships who feel more like roommates than partners

Individuals who want intimacy but don’t know how to ask for it

Anyone navigating shame, disconnection, or desire that’s gone quiet

If that sounds like you — you’re not broken. You’re just ready to learn.

Why I Do This

I’ve studied intimacy, emotion, and connection around the world — including as a Fulbright Fellow in Ukraine. But my work is deeply personal, too.

Long before that, I was just curious why intimacy felt so hard — especially for good, loving people.

I realized: we’re not taught how. So now, I teach it — accessibly, shame-free, and backed by research.
